Authorities in Seychelles rescued 17 Indian fishermen from the fishing vessel IFB Sajira after the boat suffered an engine failure in the high seas off the coast of the island nation.

The Ministry of External Affairs of India expressed gratitude to the Government of Seychelles for the "swift and life-saving assistance." Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the prompt aid reflects the "close and enduring bonds of friendship" and a shared commitment to the safety of their people.

The rescue operation follows a period of strengthening maritime and defense cooperation between the two nations. India recently provided the Seychelles Defence Force with five laser radial boats to enhance seamanship skills, along with specialized aircraft tools and repaired electronic units for its Dornier fleet.
