UN Reports Rising Health Crisis and Displacement in Palestine

United Nations agencies report a surge in respiratory infections in Gaza and the displacement of 3,000 Palestinians in Hebron due to ongoing military operations.

The United Nations reports that ongoing airstrikes and military operations continue to endanger Palestinian civilians across Gaza and the West Bank. In Gaza, the World Health Organization identified acute respiratory infections as the leading health condition, noting a rise in viral and bacterial meningitis cases caused by overcrowding and degraded infrastructure. Recent strikes and fires have resulted in approximately 100 families losing their belongings over the past week.

In Khan Younis, flying debris from an airstrike hit a UN warehouse on Wednesday. The United Nations Office for Project Services also reported explosions near its facilities and the detention of its convoy drivers.

In the West Bank, Israeli forces maintain operations in Hebron, where approximately 3,000 Palestinians remain displaced from two neighborhoods. These operations have imposed tight movement restrictions that disrupt access to education, livelihoods, and healthcare. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has called for the lifting of restrictions on humanitarian supplies and urged member states to provide additional funding to address the crisis.
