East Turkistan Government Condemns Turkey's Security Pact With China

The East Turkistan Government in Exile (ETGE) condemned a security agreement reached during political consultations in Beijing on July 16, 2026, between Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu and Turkish Vice Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci. During the talks, China requested deeper law enforcement and security cooperation, while Turkey reaffirmed the "one-China principle" and pledged that its territory would not be used against Chinese sovereignty.

ETGE Foreign and Security Minister Salih Hudayar characterized Turkey's actions as complicity in crime, alleging that security and intelligence ties—which the ETGE claims have existed since 1996—facilitate the suppression, genocide, and colonial occupation of Uyghur and other Turkic peoples in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Hudayar urged Turkey to end these ties and act as a voice for East Turkistan, arguing that Ankara effectively serves as a proxy for China's transnational repression.

The Government of China has rejected all allegations of genocide and human rights abuses. Beijing maintains that its policies in Xinjiang are designed to target extremism, separatism, and terrorism. The ETGE continues to call on the international community to support the decolonization and national independence of East Turkistan.
