EU Issues No-Fly Warning for Jordan After Iranian Attacks

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency issued a no-fly warning for Jordan on Wednesday, advising airlines to avoid the country's airspace until August 31. The agency cited a rapidly deteriorating security environment characterized by a sustained increase in kinetic military activity. The warning follows a series of Iranian drone attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

The Iranian army confirmed it used Arash suicide drones to strike aircraft maintenance hangars at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain and targeted equipment storage and accommodation buildings at Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan. These operations contributed to the deaths of four U.S. service members across Jordan and Iraq.

Regulators warned that the combination of recurrent Iranian missile strikes and the activation of Jordanian air defense systems increases the risk of civil aircraft being misidentified. In addition to the new warning for Jordan, the agency extended existing flight advisories for Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon through August 31.
