Arab League Condemns Israeli Demolition of Lebanese Neighborhood

The League of Arab States condemned the demolition of an entire neighborhood in the Bint Jbeil District of southern Lebanon by the Israeli army on July 6, 2026. According to reports from the area, the military action resulted in the wholesale destruction of residential structures within the district.

Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy described the military action as a policy of collective punishment against civilians. He characterized the demolition as a "blatant and unacceptable violation of international humanitarian law."

Fahmy called on the United Nations Security Council and the international community to oppose what he termed an "expansionist approach" and urged the council to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the situation. The incident heightens tensions in southern Lebanon, as the Arab League frames the destruction not as a tactical military necessity but as a systemic violation of humanitarian standards.
