Houthi Missiles Target Riyadh as Yemen Conflict Escalates
The Houthi Movement launched ballistic missiles at Riyadh and Saudi Aramco facilities while Yemeni government forces conducted thousands of attacks against Houthi positions.
The Houthi Movement launched a series of ballistic missile and drone attacks on October 14, 2026, targeting King Khalid International Airport and Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh and Dhahran. The Saudi-led coalition intercepted a missile headed for the capital, but falling debris injured an Arab expatriate and caused minor damage to a residential building and vehicle in Riyadh. Witnesses reported hearing four explosions following initial aerial-threat alerts.
Simultaneously, the Houthi Movement targeted Yemeni government forces in the Ras al-Arah and Al-Mudarabah areas of Lahj province. In response, the Government of Yemen reported conducting 2,309 attacks against Houthi positions, claiming to have neutralized approximately 1,250 fighters and damaged over 460 military vehicles.
Houthi spokesperson Yahya Sarea accused the coalition of carrying out 42 strikes on civilian facilities across Sanaa and other provinces. These hostilities follow the July collapse of a 2022 truce. Major General Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, confirmed the interception of the missile targeting Riyadh as part of the ongoing military campaign supporting Yemen's internationally recognized government.
