Revanth Reddy Alleges Plot to Delete Telangana Voters

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged on August 13, 2026, that political forces from Gujarat are conspiring to delete hundreds of thousands of eligible voters from the state's electoral rolls. Speaking at the Minorities Excellence Summit in Hyderabad, Reddy claimed that between 60 lakh and 73 lakh uncollectable enumeration forms were concentrated in the Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts to influence future assembly elections.

Reddy compared the situation to previous voter deletions in West Bengal and Bihar, asserting that while Mamata Banerjee may have given up in West Bengal, Telangana would not allow similar actions. He directed Indian National Congress workers to conduct door-to-door household visits to verify voter details against 2002 records and report discrepancies to Booth Level Officers within 10 days.

During the summit, Reddy also defended the state's four percent minority reservation. He challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who had previously stated the BJP would remove such reservations if it took power in Telangana, to first remove Muslim quotas in Gujarat. Reddy highlighted his government's commitment to minority welfare, citing the appointment of minority members to the state Cabinet and the Telangana Public Service Commission, including former cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin as a minister.
