Medmerry Holiday Park Closes as Cove Communities Enters Administration

Cove Communities Venture 2 Medmerry OpCo Limited, the operator of Medmerry Holiday Park in West Sussex, has entered administration. The 100-acre site near Chichester, which features 308 chalets, will not reopen after flooding forced its closure in 2024.

Adam Paxton and Robert Croxen of Alvarez & Marsal were appointed as joint administrators. They had previously been appointed to manage the company's property arm, Cove Communities Venture 2 Medmerry PropCo Limited, on September 8. While the parent company, Cove Communities Holiday Park UK HoldCo Limited, remains unaffected, other subsidiaries have faced similar fates this year. The Argyll Holidays portfolio in Scotland, Gwel an Mor Resort in Cornwall, and Solway Holiday Park in the Lake District have all entered administration, though those sites continue to trade.

This insolvency coincides with a sharp increase in UK corporate failures. Data from the Insolvency Service shows that administrations rose 44 percent from July 2026 and 60 percent from August 2025. Experts link this volatility to macroeconomic pressures, including inflation and rising energy costs, as well as the collapse of mortgage provider Market Financial Solutions.
