Canada Approves VersaBank Reorganization Into U.S. Holding Company
Canada's Finance Minister approved VersaBank's plan to reorganize its corporate structure under a new Delaware-based holding company, Versa Bancorp.
Canada's Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne approved a plan by VersaBank to reorganize its corporate structure into a standard U.S. bank framework. The reorganization establishes a new Delaware corporation, Versa Bancorp, to serve as the direct holding company of the bank.
The move follows shareholder approval granted in September. The bank targets completion of the transition by the end of October 2026. While the Canadian government has granted its consent, the reorganization remains subject to final regulatory approval from the Federal Reserve Board in the United States.
