London Stock Exchange Group Announces LSE 24 Night Trading

London Stock Exchange Group will launch LSE 24, a night-time trading platform for digital and algorithmic trading, in the first half of 2027.

The London Stock Exchange Group announced plans to launch LSE 24, a new trading venue providing near-continuous trading from Monday to Friday. Pending regulatory approval, the platform is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2027, with client testing expected to start by the end of 2026.

Operating separately from the main market, LSE 24 will trade from 5 p.m. to 7:50 a.m. London time. The schedule includes a 30-minute pause between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. for end-of-day processing. The venue will initially offer exchange-traded products, such as funds tracking UK and US stock markets, with plans to eventually expand into equities.

Designed to support digital, algorithmic, and agentic trading, the initiative responds to the growth of cryptocurrencies and increasing demand from global retail investors for liquidity across time zones. The platform will leverage the group's financial market infrastructure and a forthcoming Digital Securities Depository to modernize issuance and settlement. This move aligns with similar shifts by other major exchanges, including Nasdaq and Cboe, which are implementing extended trading hours for US equities.
