Jamaica Sends Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake-Stricken Venezuela

The Government of Jamaica is providing pharmaceutical and food aid to Venezuela following earthquakes that killed more than 3,500 people.

The Government of Jamaica is delivering pharmaceutical supplies and food items to Venezuela in response to two devastating earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela on June 24. The disasters caused widespread damage and displacement, resulting in a death toll exceeding 3,500 people.

This assistance is part of a broader Caribbean Community (CARICOM) relief effort coordinated by the Government of Guyana. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kamina Johnson Smith stated the contribution reflects regional solidarity and serves as reciprocity for the 46 tonnes of supplies Venezuela provided to Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa.

Jamaican officials noted that the support is intended to assist families as they grieve and begin the process of recovery and rebuilding in affected communities.
