Index Ventures Raises $2 Billion to Target AI Sectors
Index Ventures raised $2 billion in new capital to expand its investment capacity to $3.5 billion, primarily targeting artificial intelligence infrastructure and cybersecurity.
Index Ventures increased its total investment capacity to $3.5 billion after raising $2 billion in new capital. The London-based firm split the funds across a $400 million seed fund, a $900 million venture fund, and a $700 million addition to its 2024 growth fund, which now totals $2.2 billion.
Index Ventures intends to deploy the majority of this capital into artificial intelligence, specifically targeting cybersecurity, infrastructure, healthcare, FinTech, and consumer productivity. This investment push follows a highly profitable year for the firm, which reportedly earned nearly $9 billion. These gains were driven largely by its role as the largest outside investor in Wiz before Google acquired the security company for $32 billion.
While pursuing an aggressive growth strategy, co-founder Neil Rimer cautioned that the wealth generated by AI will eventually necessitate a redistribution. Rimer suggested that the industry should act voluntarily to prevent a forced market correction.
