Ethiopian Airlines Orders 10 Boeing Cargo Aircraft

Ethiopian Airlines signed an agreement on Wednesday to purchase 10 Boeing cargo aircraft, including eight Boeing 777-8Fs and two 777Fs. CEO Mesfin Tasew announced the deal during a ceremony in Addis Ababa, adding that the airline holds an option to acquire eight more 777-8Fs.

While the catalogue price for the aircraft is listed at $5 billion, the actual purchase price remains confidential. The fleet expansion is part of a broader $12.5 billion project to construct Africa's largest airport, with the first phase of the facility expected to open in 2030.

The airline currently operates more than 140 jets. Its existing cargo capacity includes 12 Boeing 777F planes, three Boeing 767 freighters, and four converted 737s.
