Intel Shares Rally on AI Demand and Insider Buying
Intel shares rose over 5% following a New Street Research upgrade and a $10 million stock purchase by CEO Lip-Bu Tan.
Shares of Intel Corporation rose 5.5% on October 26, reaching a session high of $92.09. The rally followed an upgrade from Neutral to Buy by New Street Research analyst Pierre Ferragu, who set a $125 price target. Ferragu cited a sustained increase in server CPU demand driven by agentic AI, predicting that supply constraints will persist for years as the company adds capacity and removes inefficient nodes to support its foundry business.
Additional bullish sentiment emerged from KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc. and the Royal Bank of Canada, both of which projected that third-quarter revenue and earnings would exceed Wall Street consensus. KeyBanc projected Q3 revenue of $16.9 billion, while the Royal Bank of Canada expected Intel to beat revenue estimates by at least 5%.
Adding to the momentum, CEO Lip-Bu Tan purchased approximately 105,000 shares valued at $10 million. The surge also benefited competitors Advanced Micro Devices and NVIDIA, both of which saw share prices increase by 3% amid a broader rebound in the semiconductor sector and gains in the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500.
Investors are now awaiting Intel's third-quarter 2026 financial results, scheduled for release after the market closes on October 29, to determine if data center demand and server supply constraints align with analyst projections.
