Nasuni CPO Urges Shift to Distributed Enterprise Architecture
Nick Burling of Nasuni argues that AI and hybrid work require a shift from centralized cloud data to distributed edge architecture.
Nick Burling, Chief Product Officer at Nasuni, argues that the rise of artificial intelligence and hybrid work is forcing a fundamental shift in enterprise architecture. He contends that the traditional strategy of centralizing data in the cloud has become inefficient because both AI systems and employees now operate in distributed environments, referred to as the edge.
Burling asserts that moving massive datasets to a central location is increasingly expensive and creates risks of data drift through duplication. To resolve these issues, he advocates for a consistent, governed data foundation that ensures secure access to trusted data regardless of where the work occurs.
This architectural evolution is presented as a necessity for scaling AI and deploying agentic AI. Burling notes that these AI agents require the same secure data access as human employees to function effectively without operational friction.
