Tom Perriello Trails John McGuire in Virginia 5th District Race

Tom Perriello stated that the race for Virginia's 5th Congressional District is too close to call, emphasizing that every vote must be counted. He cited high voter enthusiasm, surging support in rural areas, and increased turnout among African-American voters and same-day registrants as factors in the contest.

Despite these claims, Perriello currently trails the incumbent Representative John McGuire by more than 9,000 votes. The candidates remain locked in a contest to determine the representation for the district in the United States House of Representatives.
