Azerbaijan and Jordan Sign Energy and Visa Agreements

Azerbaijan and Jordan signed mutual visa exemptions and energy cooperation agreements during high-level diplomatic meetings in Baku on July 8, 2026.

Azerbaijan and Jordan signed two bilateral agreements on July 8, 2026, to enhance cooperation in energy and tourism. Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Al-Safadi signed a memorandum of understanding between their respective energy ministries and an agreement to mutually exempt ordinary passport holders from visa requirements.

In Baku, President Ilham Aliyev met with Al-Safadi to discuss strengthening ties in investment, economic, and parliamentary sectors, including the potential opening of direct regular flights between the two nations. Al-Safadi delivered an invitation from King Abdullah II for President Aliyev to visit Jordan, and President Aliyev extended a reciprocal invitation to the King.

During a joint press conference, Bayramov briefed Al-Safadi on the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process and the reconstruction efforts currently underway in the Karabakh region. The two ministers agreed to a future joint visit to Karabakh to review restoration work on the ground. Discussions also covered regional security in the Middle East, cooperation within multilateral platforms, and preparations for the upcoming CICA Summit in Baku. Azerbaijan further promoted the Middle Corridor and the Alat Free Economic Zone as means to expand economic ties in industry, transport, and agriculture.
