Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan Analyzes Chinese AI Growth
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan reports rapid adoption of AI models in China and predicts quantum computing will go mainstream within five years.
Lip-Bu Tan, the CEO of Intel, stated on Monday that China is adopting frontier AI models very quickly, citing lower token costs as a primary driver. Speaking at a panel organized by DBS Bank, Tan described the performance of Chinese models such as DeepSeek, Kimi, and GLM as "good enough."
Tan argued that open source is the most effective way to drive efficiency and noted that market demand will ultimately decide which models best serve specific use cases. He also provided a timeline for the evolution of computing, predicting that quantum computing could become mainstream within the next three to five years.
Regarding the future of quantum technology, Tan emphasized that software will be essential for the efficient operation of the required infrastructure.
