Pralhad Joshi Launches 'One Nation, One Time' Clock Network

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the Indian Standard Time Distribution Demonstration Network on July 16, 2026, at the Regional Reference Standards Laboratory in Bengaluru. Developed under the "One Nation, One Time" vision, the system utilizes White Rabbit Technology and Precision Time Protocol to provide secure, tamper-resistant timing traceable to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

The network was created through a joint effort between the Department of Consumer Affairs, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It is designed to protect critical infrastructure, including power grids, telecommunications, and financial markets, from cyber-attacks and data manipulation by eliminating the current reliance on foreign sources such as GPS.

To verify the system's efficacy, the government conducted a successful secure time transmission test between the Bengaluru laboratory and the National Stock Exchange facility in Chennai. This verification involved collaborations with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Bharat Sanchar Broadband Limited (BSNL). Secretary Nidhi Khare stated that the project supports the broader digital transformation of the country.
