Google Unveils Pixel Tag Item Tracker for Android

Google unveiled the Pixel Tag during its Made By Google event on August 12, 2026. The device serves as the company's first first-party item tracker and is designed to compete with Apple's AirTag by integrating with the Find Hub network, which leverages over one billion Android devices to locate lost items.

The hardware features a flattened pill shape with a stainless steel side to prevent flexing and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. For precision tracking, the Pixel Tag utilizes Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Channel Sounding to provide visual distance and directional cues, though the latter requires Android 16 and Bluetooth 6.0. The device includes a remotely triggerable speaker, a button to locate paired phones, and a replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery with a lifespan exceeding one year.

Compatible with devices running Android 9 or newer, the tracker supports sharing with up to 10 people and incorporates anti-stalking safety alerts and Left Behind notifications. The Pixel Tag will be available in a single Fog colorway starting November 11, 2026. Pricing is set at $29 for a single unit and $99 for a four-pack, although one source indicates a starting cost of approximately $34.
