Ontario Schedules 60 Highway Closures Across Three Regions
The Province of Ontario is implementing 60 planned highway closures across York, Halton, and Peel regions to facilitate provincial road maintenance.
The Province of Ontario is executing a series of planned highway maintenance projects across three major regions, resulting in 60 total road closures between October 5 and October 7, 2026.
On October 5, the province implemented 39 closures across York and Halton regions. York Region saw 25 closures affecting Highways 400, 404, 48, and 9, with nightly lane closures in Vaughan, Kettleby, Aurora, and Whitchurch-Stouffville. In Halton, 14 closures impacted the Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville and Burlington, Highway 403 in Burlington, and Highway 401 in Milton.
By October 7, the maintenance schedule expanded to the Peel region with 21 additional closures. These projects affect Highway 401, Highway 403, Highway 410, Highway 9, and the Queen Elizabeth Way. Impacted areas include Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon, with specific alternating lane shutdowns on Highway 410 in Brampton and various closures on the Queen Elizabeth Way and Highway 401 in Mississauga.
Most of these projects consist of nightly or continuous alternating lane reductions. Provincial authorities have advised motorists to expect delays and adjust their routes to accommodate the ongoing maintenance.
