Social Security Administration Sets July and August Payment Dates

The Social Security Administration is completing its July 2026 payment cycle and adjusting the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) schedule for August. The final round of monthly benefit deposits for July will be issued on Wednesday, July 22, for beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of the month. This concludes a staggered distribution that began on July 2 for long-term beneficiaries and dual recipients, followed by payments on July 8 and July 15 for other birth date groups.

Separately, the agency has adjusted the SSI payment schedule because August 1 falls on a Saturday. Since payments are not issued on weekends, the August benefit for approximately 7 million low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities will be distributed early on Friday, July 31. This shift means affected recipients will receive two payments in July and none in August, though total annual benefits remain unchanged.

The agency reported that current average monthly benefits are $2,029.92 for retirement, $1,631.39 for survivor, and $1,496.16 for disability claims. Similar schedule adjustments are planned for later in the year, with the November payment moving to October 30 and the January 2027 payment moving to December 31, 2026.
