This shortfall was lower than the A$29.7 billion deficit forecasted by analysts, though it follows an upwardly revised deficit of A$25.4 billion from the first quarter.

Other financial indicators showed a decline in the capital and financial account surplus, which fell to A$5.3 billion. This represents a decrease of A$11.3 billion compared to the previous quarter.

Australia's net international investment liability position stood at A$638.9 billion in the second quarter. This figure marks a reduction of A$122.8 billion from the revised first-quarter position of A$761.7 billion.
