George Eapen Urges AI Countermeasures at Black Hat USA

Chief Technology and Security Officer at Abdul Latif Jameel George Eapen stated at Black Hat USA 2026 that the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence has reduced the shelf life of cybersecurity strategies to only a few weeks. He noted that AI has driven down the cost of launching cyberattacks while simultaneously increasing their volume.

Eapen argued that traditional human-involved threat responses are ineffective against these modern threats, asserting that organizations must adopt AI-based countermeasures. His proposed solutions include the implementation of AI-powered security operations centers and automated red teaming to combat AI-enabled adversaries.

Beyond automated defense, Eapen highlighted the necessity of converging identity and data security to better monitor the intent and privileges of AI agents. He also observed that cybersecurity startups are often more capable of solving narrow, unique problems faster than established vendors.
