Zip CEO Advocates Governance Layer for Enterprise AI Scalability

Zip CEO Rujul Zaparde argues that enterprise AI scalability requires a transparent governance trust layer rather than raw model capability to ensure auditable autonomy.

Rujul Zaparde, CEO of Zip, asserts that the scalability of artificial intelligence within the enterprise depends on a trust layer built through transparent governance. He argues that raw model capability is insufficient, suggesting that autonomy must be earned through strict guardrails and logged, auditable records, similar to the path taken by Waymo in autonomous driving.

A survey of 1,050 leaders across procurement, finance, IT, and operations reveals a gap between expectation and reality. While 93% of these leaders expect procurement technology to change materially within three to five years, only 2% anticipate a fully autonomous procurement function.

Zaparde warns that the current use of unsanctioned AI tools by executives creates compounding risks for auditors. To mitigate these risks, Zip is developing a tool to implement a governance layer for procurement and finance. This system is designed to allow AI agents to negotiate and approve spending while remaining strictly within established company policies.
