Thailand Manufacturing Output Surges Through September 2026

Thailand's manufacturing sector showed accelerated growth in August and September, driven by electronics production and a rise in new orders.

Thailand's manufacturing sector experienced significant growth through the end of September 2026, characterized by production increases and rising order volumes. The Ministry of Industry reported that the manufacturing production index rose 4.44% in August compared to the previous year, far exceeding the 1% increase predicted by analysts. This growth was attributed to a weaker baht, government stimulus, and increased electronics production.

To reflect the current economic structure, the ministry adjusted its index methodology by modifying weightings and adding more electronics products. This change resulted in a retroactive revision of the July production index from 0.46% to 3.97%. Based on these trends, the ministry raised its full-year factory output forecast to between 2.75% and 3.75%, a substantial increase from the previous 0.25% estimate.

Growth continued into September, with the manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rising to 54.3 from 53.8 in August, according to S&P Global. The sector saw its fastest rates of new orders and output in six and nine months, respectively. While backlogged orders grew at the quickest pace in five months, the report noted that this accumulation was partly due to a reduction in manufacturing employment.
