New York Issues Energy Rebates to 8 Million Residents
Governor Kathy Hochul has begun distributing POWER energy rebate checks to over 8 million New York residents to offset rising utility costs.
The state of New York has started issuing POWER energy rebate checks to more than 8 million residents to help offset rising utility costs. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the initiative last month, and the state expects to mail all eligible checks by the end of December.
Rebate amounts are distributed automatically based on income levels. Joint filers earning under $150,000 receive $200, while those earning between $150,000 and $300,000 receive $150. Single filers earning under $150,000 are eligible for $100.
In addition to the energy rebates, some residents may receive STAR rebate checks. These provide school tax rebates to qualified homeowners who have previously signed up for the program.
