Nvidia and SpaceX Scale AI Infrastructure for 2027
Nvidia and SpaceX are expanding AI compute capacity and hardware platforms to capitalize on infrastructure growth heading into 2027.
AI infrastructure growth is driving significant scaling efforts at Nvidia Inc. and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. as they prepare for 2027. Nvidia is transitioning from its Blackwell chip architecture to the Vera Rubin platform, which is currently in production for major clients including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. The company reported second-quarter revenue of $96.2 billion, with $89 billion coming from its data center segment. Nvidia maintains a strong cash position, with $235 billion remaining for its share repurchase program.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. is simultaneously expanding its AI compute capacity through agreements with Google, Anthropic, and Reflection AI. The company expects its compute capacity to reach 10 gigawatts by late 2027 and is targeting a $100 billion annualized run-rate revenue by the end of 2026.
Despite rapid scaling across Starship and Starlink, SpaceX remains free cash flow negative. This is driven by high capital expenditures, which reached $18.4 billion in the second quarter.
