Iraq Plans Oil Production Increase to 10 Million Barrels

Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi announced plans to raise Iraq's oil production to 10 million barrels per day within six years through OPEC negotiations and new export routes.

Ali al-Zaidi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, announced plans to increase the country's oil production to between 8 million and 10 million barrels per day over the next six years. This initiative aims to significantly scale Iraq's energy output and export capacity.

To achieve these targets, the Iraqi government dispatched a ministerial committee to Saudi Arabia to negotiate an expansion of Iraq's production quota within the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. These negotiations are central to ensuring the production increase aligns with international agreements.

Iraq is also diversifying its logistics by pursuing new export routes. The government is working to move oil through the Aqaba port in Jordan and the Baniyas port in Syria to reduce reliance on existing infrastructure.
