Lucid Group Partners With Bolt for European Robotaxis
Lucid Group CEO Silvio Napoli announced a robotaxi partnership with Bolt and the conclusion of a $1.4 billion cost-reduction plan with AlixPartners.
Lucid Group CEO Silvio Napoli announced a partnership with Bolt to introduce robotaxis to the European market, calling the move a validation of the company's technology strategy. Napoli clarified that the agreement is non-exclusive, as the company maintains a separate robotaxi project with Uber scheduled to launch between late 2026 and early 2027.
To stabilize the company's finances, Napoli implemented a "tough medicine" plan targeting cash, cost, customer quality, and culture. These measures included a reduction in force and decreased factory capacity in Arizona. As part of this effort, Lucid concluded its engagement with consulting firm AlixPartners, which helped the company develop a plan to reduce cash consumption by $1.4 billion.
Napoli is currently conducting an operational review to optimize the business and ensure the successful rollout of a new mid-size vehicle. Additionally, the company's factory in Saudi Arabia is nearing completion and is expected to have a grand opening next year.
