Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Address European Parliament Amid Family Probe

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will urge policymakers to improve child safety in Brussels as Philippine police investigate Thomas Markle Sr. and Jr. for child abuse.

The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry will deliver a joint speech at the European Parliament in Brussels on Tuesday to advocate for improved online child safety. The couple is scheduled to open The Lost Screen Memorial, a video installation dedicated to children who died due to online exploitation and social media. This marks their first joint public appearance since the Philippine National Police launched an investigation into Thomas Markle Sr. regarding child sexual abuse material found at his former residence in Cebu City.

Philippine Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has also identified Thomas Markle Jr. as a person of interest after witnesses reported underage girls at his residence. A separate police raid in Rosarito, Mexico, reportedly uncovered a second hoard of illicit material in a rented unit.

Meghan Markle stated she is "deeply distressed at the news" and disclosed that the Metropolitan Police informed her of "disturbing allegations" regarding her father in 2018. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is now investigating why the Metropolitan Police did not share that information with other law enforcement agencies.
