Afghanistan Opens 14 Water Networks in Sari Pul Province

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock commissioned 14 new water supply networks to provide potable water to 3,500 families in northern Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan commissioned 14 new water supply networks in the Sari Pul province on July 13, 2026. The project targeted the districts of Sancharak, Sozma Qala, and Gosfandi to provide clean, potable water to approximately 3,500 families.

Costing 56 million Afghanis, or roughly 860,000 U.S. dollars, the infrastructure was designed to alleviate acute water scarcity resulting from successive years of severe drought. The initiative serves as part of a broader government strategy to improve living standards in remote provinces and increase resilience against climate-induced challenges.
