Peggy Flanagan Campaign Corrects Academic Record Claims

The campaign of Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan admitted she never joined the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and did not complete a double major.

The campaign of Peggy Flanagan, the Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota and Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, acknowledged that Flanagan was never a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. This admission contradicts a 2016 legislative hearing where Flanagan stated she "graduated Phi Beta Kappa," citing the influence of diverse teaching and curriculum on her success.

Campaign spokeswoman Alexandra Fetissoff clarified that while Flanagan was nominated for the honor society, she was unable to afford the required application fees to join. The campaign further corrected Flanagan's official state biography, admitting she did not complete a double major in American Indian studies and child psychology. Instead, she majored in child psychology and minored in American Indian studies.

These corrections emerge during a competitive Senate race against former NFL reporter Michele Tafoya. The Cook Political Report currently categorizes the contest as lean Democrat.
