Count Binface Challenges Nigel Farage in Clacton-on-Sea By-Election

Comedian Jon Harvey, performing as the satirical intergalactic space warrior Count Binface, is running in a by-election for a House of Commons seat in Clacton-on-Sea, England. The special election was triggered after Reform UK leader Nigel Farage resigned from Parliament to seek re-election while facing investigations into allegedly undeclared millions of pounds in donations from cryptocurrency billionaires.

With major political parties boycotting the race, Binface has emerged as a primary challenger to Farage. His campaign blends absurd proposals—including nationalizing singer Adele and price caps for croissants—with critiques of Farage's financial ties to the United States. Binface has specifically targeted Farage's acceptance of gifts from crypto billionaires as a point of contention.

Nearly three dozen candidates are contesting the seat, including several from the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. While pollster John Curtice predicts Farage will win despite low turnout, forecasts suggest Binface may receive a higher number of protest votes than in previous campaigns, potentially allowing him to reclaim his candidate deposit.
