Upwind Security raised $400 million in a funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, increasing the San Francisco-based startup's valuation to $3.8 billion. This figure marks a significant jump from the company's $1.5 billion valuation in January. Since its launch in 2022, the company has secured $830 million in total funding and is projected to reach nearly $100 million in annual recurring revenue by the end of the year.
The company provides a platform designed to detect malware and unusual behavior within cloud environments. It recently expanded its capabilities to address autonomous agents and AI-related threats. CEO Amiram Shachar plans to use the new capital to grow the company's sales, marketing, and engineering operations.
Shachar linked the surge in investor interest to an increase in zero-day flaws and the accessibility of AI tools for malicious actors. He noted that the cost and knowledge required for hacking or reconnaissance has dropped to zero due to AI tools, stating that the last three months have seen more activity than the previous four years combined.
