OpenAI Announces AI Hardware Development Amid Apple Lawsuit

OpenAI President Greg Brockman announced that the company is developing its own chips and a family of AI hardware devices. Brockman stated that consumers should "expect them soon," explaining that these devices are designed for the AI era and will prioritize voice interaction over typing to be "maximally useful."

During the announcement, Brockman addressed a lawsuit filed by Apple, which alleges that OpenAI stole confidential information and trade secrets from Apple employees. He denied the claims, asserting that the company has no interest in the trade secrets of others and that OpenAI is "plenty innovative."

Brockman also commented on the current state of the ChatGPT app, describing it as "kind of a mess" following its merger with Codex, though he characterized the current situation as a form of incremental progress.
