BYD Produces 17 Millionth New Energy Vehicle

BYD became the first automaker globally to produce 17 million new energy vehicles after its 17 millionth unit rolled off the line in Xi'An.

The automaker BYD announced on July 8, 2026, that its 17 millionth new energy vehicle rolled off the production line at its manufacturing base in Xi'An, China. This achievement marks the first time any global automaker has reached this production milestone.

The milestone vehicle is a Seal 08, a flagship sedan from the Ocean Series that launched on July 2 with a price range between 196,900 and 239,900 yuan. The model utilizes second-generation Blade Battery and FLASH charging technology, capable of providing 400 km of range in five minutes for battery-electric versions.

In the first half of 2026, the company delivered 1,808,511 vehicles and saw overseas sales increase by 68% year-on-year. To support this growth, BYD plans to establish 20,000 FLASH charging stations across China by the end of 2026.
