BrainCo Develops BCI Wearable to Suppress Appetite

BrainCo is developing a brain-computer interface wearable to treat obesity as a non-drug alternative to GLP-1 medications.

BrainCo, a Chinese neurotechnology firm, is developing a wearable brain-computer interface device designed to suppress appetite through brain stimulation. Founding partner Nyx He described the technology as an "electronic version of GLP-1" obesity drugs, positioning the wearable as a non-drug alternative to treatments such as Wegovy and Zepbound.

The company plans to launch the device in China within the next two to three years, with potential future expansion into the United States market. BrainCo may also explore invasive brain implants as part of its long-term strategy. The firm currently produces BCI-enabled headsets for neurological disorders and prosthetic hands.

Despite proposed U.S. investment curbs targeting Chinese BCI firms, the company reports strong demand for its prosthetic products in the U.S. market. BrainCo has also confidentially filed for an initial public offering in Hong Kong.
