L&T Vyoma and UPC Volt Launch AI Data Centers in India

Two major digital infrastructure projects launched in India to support the rising demand for generative AI and low-carbon operations. Larsen & Toubro Vyoma, the digital infrastructure arm of Larsen & Toubro, broke ground on January 21, 2026, for a 40 MW green, AI-ready data center in Mahape, Navi Mumbai. This facility is the first phase of a planned 100 MW campus and part of a broader strategy to develop 200 MW of capacity across Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad using Direct-to-Chip liquid cooling.

Following this, UPC Volt, a joint venture between Netherlands-based UPC Renewables Group and VOLT Data Centers, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Telangana during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The agreement establishes a 100 MW AI-ready data center in Bharat Future City, Hyderabad, backed by a Rs 5,000 crore investment over five years. To ensure carbon-free operations, the project includes a matching 100 MW round-the-clock renewable energy facility.

These initiatives align with regional and national goals for sustainable growth. The Telangana project supports the 'Telangana Rising 2047' vision to transform the state into a global AI hub and is expected to create over 3,000 construction jobs and 800 operational roles.
