Wiltshire Council Announces Summer Road Closures and Speed Limits

Wiltshire Council is implementing road closures, parking restrictions, and new 20mph speed limits across several towns to facilitate infrastructure and utility upgrades.

Wiltshire Council announced a series of road and path closures along with parking restrictions across multiple towns and villages for the summer and autumn of 2026. These measures are designed to facilitate utility repairs, resurfacing, and infrastructure upgrades in locations including Devizes, Trowbridge, Warminster, and Bradford on Avon.

Specific projects include sewer lining in West Overton and repair works by Wessex Water Ltd in Etchilhampton. In Warminster, Wales & West Utilities Ltd is replacing gas mains on Smallbrook Road, while UK Power Solutions manages electrical and gas connections on West Ashton Road in Trowbridge. Additionally, Openreach Limited is conducting cabling and ducting works in Westwood and Ham, and Valletta Surfacing Limited is performing road reinstatement on Polebarn Road.

The council also proposed new 20mph speed limits for several Trowbridge roads, including Berkeley Road and Alma Street, citing the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Residents may inspect the draft orders for these limits at County Hall or Trowbridge Library until August 24.
