PennDOT District 4 Recruits 160 Seasonal Winter Workers

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Engineering District 4 is recruiting 160 seasonal workers for the upcoming winter season, which runs from September through April. The agency seeks to fill 130 commercial driver's license (CDL) operator positions and 30 support roles, including laborers, mechanics, and clerical dispatchers.

District officials are using these temporary roles as a strategic pathway to permanent employment to counter a projected rise in retirements within the agency over the next several years. Candidates hired as temporary CDL operators under the winter program can bid for permanent openings as they become available.

To facilitate the hiring process, the agency is hosting open houses on Tuesday from noon to 5 p.m. These events are taking place at the district office in Dunmore and at six county maintenance offices serving Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.
