Samsung Launches Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Updates Wearable App

Samsung Electronics released the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and a redesigned Galaxy Wearable app ahead of its Unpacked event in London.

Samsung Electronics released the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 on July 22, 2026, coinciding with a redesigned rollout of its Galaxy Wearable app and leaked specifications for the upcoming Galaxy Watch9. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is designed for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, featuring a titanium build that is 12% thinner than the previous model and an IP69K rating for dust and high-pressure water resistance. It is powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, an 800mAh battery—a 35% capacity increase—and a display with 5,000 nits of brightness.

Earlier leaks revealed that the standard Galaxy Watch9 will be available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, priced between €409 and €489. Both the Watch9 and Watch Ultra 2 utilize the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset with 2GB of RAM and run One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7. Other leaked features include a nutrition alert system using perspiration and a dedicated diving app.

To support the new hardware, the company deployed Galaxy Wearable app version 2.2.70.26060861. This update replaces the all-black aesthetic with a One UI design featuring floating cards and a simplified three-tab navigation system. The revamped interface includes a new Home tab for battery status and a watch face browser that provides full previews instead of thumbnails.
