Micron Technology Announces $10 Billion Research Lab Investment

Micron Technology is investing $10 billion in a new research facility in Boise, Idaho, amid positive analyst ratings and projections for the memory market.

Micron Technology announced a $10 billion investment over the next decade to establish Micron Research Labs in Boise, Idaho. The new facility is intended to advance the company's memory technologies as it navigates a strong memory market cycle.

Financial analysts from Stifel reiterated a Buy rating and a $1,500 price target for the company, expecting Micron to exceed consensus estimates for its fiscal fourth quarter and first quarter. Stifel noted that while HBM4 pricing per bit is expected to double, potentially boosting margins in the fiscal second quarter ending in February, near-term bit shipment constraints and collar-based pricing agreements may limit immediate upside.

Market projections indicate a shift in growth rates, with Stifel forecasting DRAM bit shipments to decelerate to 15-20% growth in 2027, compared to mid-to-high 20% growth in 2026. This slowdown is attributed to tighter equipment supply and limited cleanroom availability. Other financial firms, including TD Cowen, have maintained Buy ratings with price targets as high as $1,600.
