Chinese Military Conducts Three-Day Sorties Around Taiwan

The Ministry of National Defence of Taiwan reported a series of Chinese military incursions involving aircraft and naval vessels between August 13 and August 15, 2026. The activity peaked on Thursday, August 13, when the ministry detected 18 People's Liberation Army aircraft sorties, 11 navy vessels, and three official ships, with 15 aircraft crossing the Taiwan Strait median line into the northern, central, southwestern, and eastern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).

Activity decreased on Friday, August 14, as the ministry detected nine aircraft sorties, 12 navy vessels, and two official ships. Six of those aircraft crossed the median line into the central, southwestern, and eastern ADIZ. By Saturday, August 15, detections dropped further to four aircraft sorties, eight navy vessels, and one official ship, with three aircraft crossing the median line into the northern, central, and eastern ADIZ.

The Republic of China Armed Forces monitored and responded to all incursions. These operations occur as the Government of China maintains that Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory, while Taiwan continues to operate as an independent entity.
