US Dollar Strengthens Against G10 and Emerging Market Currencies
The US dollar rose against all G10 and most emerging market currencies on September 23, driving the Canadian dollar to its lowest level since July.
The US dollar strengthened against all G10 currencies and the majority of emerging market currencies on September 23, 2026. This rally pushed the Canadian dollar to its lowest valuation since late July, with the US dollar climbing above CAD 1.4090. The euro also declined toward $1.14, despite preliminary September PMI data that exceeded market expectations.
Global equity markets showed mixed results. In the Asia-Pacific region, markets in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore fell. While markets in Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, and India rose, they all finished below their daily highs. In Europe, the Stoxx 600 declined by approximately 0.2%, and US index futures remained narrowly mixed.
