Indo-German Engineering Summit Urges Increased German Investment in India
Emmy Noether calls for increased German investment in India to complement the India-EU Free Trade Agreement during an engineering summit in Bengaluru.
The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce hosted the Indo-German Engineering Summit 2026 in Bengaluru to explore expanding business ties in artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and engineering. The summit focused on leveraging India's digital capabilities and talent pool alongside German engineering expertise to advance smart manufacturing initiatives.
Emmy Noether, chief of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, stated that the India-EU Free Trade Agreement provides a foundation for a more intense business relationship. However, she emphasized that trade growth must be paired with higher direct investment in India to ensure long-term competitiveness. Noether specifically highlighted the role of Germany's Mittelstand, or mid-sized companies, in building sustainable local supply chains to reduce import reliance.
To facilitate these goals, Noether called for stronger engagement between government representatives and companies in Germany and the state of Karnataka to identify specific collaboration opportunities.
