IBM Study Finds Gap in Corporate AI Adoption
IBM reports a significant disconnect between executives and employees regarding the actual integration of AI into daily workplace workflows.
An IBM study titled "Where AI breaks— or breaks through" reveals a sharp divide between executive perceptions and the actual employee experience of artificial intelligence in the workplace. While nearly two-thirds of executives believe AI is actively reshaping roles and workflows, only 17% of employees report that AI is integrated into their daily work.
IBM indicates that this gap stems from flawed operating models. Many companies have deployed AI tools without redesigning the accompanying workflows, accountability structures, and management practices. The data suggests that organizations that successfully align these operating models by redefining human judgment checkpoints and decision-making processes achieve up to 73% higher revenue growth and an 11% operating margin advantage.
Providence Health serves as a model for successful implementation. The organization deployed an AI-powered HR agent that reduced administrative hiring tasks for managers by 90%.
