Enterprises Shift to Agentic AI Operating Models
Major technology firms and enterprises are transitioning to agent-native computing, replacing human-prompted assistance with autonomous AI agents to redesign organizational workflows.
The enterprise landscape is shifting from using AI as a prompted tool to adopting agentic AI as a fundamental operating model. Microsoft Corporation, Salesforce, Nvidia Corporation, OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic are leading this transition toward agent-native computing and autonomous platforms that prioritize autonomous execution over human assistance.
Early implementation shows significant financial and operational impact. Klarna deployed a single AI agent to perform the work of 853 customer service employees, resulting in $60 million in savings by 2025. Nvidia Corporation leader Jensen Huang has characterized these autonomous agents as digital employees.
Despite these gains, a 2026 Deloitte report highlights a critical governance gap, noting that only 21% of enterprises have mature frameworks for managing autonomous agents. Experts from CogniwareAI argue that the primary value of this technology stems from organizational redesign rather than simple automation, with 70% of the value derived from transforming people and processes. To realize these benefits, leaders are encouraged to implement governance-as-code and redesign end-to-end workflows to support hybrid human-agent teams.
