Anonymous Ox Alpha AI Model Appears on OpenRouter
An anonymous AI model called Ox Alpha launched on OpenRouter with high reasoning capabilities and a reported 100 trillion token daily capacity.
A mysterious AI model named Ox Alpha appeared on the OpenRouter platform on Thursday as a free stealth model from an anonymous provider. The model is designed for agentic workloads, long-horizon software engineering, and complex reasoning, offering near-unlimited usage with a reported capacity of 100 trillion tokens per day.
Stripe CEO Patrick Collison tested the model and described it as "very impressive." The release sparked immediate speculation regarding its origin. Early theories from developers and the publication Wccftech suggested the model came from the Chinese lab Z.ai due to similarities with the GLM-5 model.
Other technical analyses have challenged this theory, suggesting that tokenizer behavior instead points to the MAI family of models from Microsoft. As of Saturday, AI analysts indicate that the origin of the model remains unconfirmed.
