Election Deniers Run for Key Swing State Offices

Several Republican candidates who questioned or denied the 2020 US presidential election results are running for high-level statewide offices in swing states for the November elections. These candidates are seeking roles as governors and secretaries of state, positions that grant the authority to oversee voting systems and certify election results.

In Arizona, gubernatorial candidate Andy Biggs and secretary of state candidate Alex Kolodin have both challenged the 2020 results. In Wisconsin, gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany previously voted against certifying results from other states and claimed improprieties occurred. Other candidates pursuing high-level roles include Rick Jackson in Georgia, John James in Michigan, Jim Marchant in Nevada, and Stacy Garrity in Pennsylvania.

The candidacy of these individuals has raised concerns regarding the 2028 election. Critics suggest that if elected, these officials might refuse to sign off on results or succumb to pressure to overturn an election should Republicans lose.
